Founded in 1867, Talladega College is Alabama's oldest private historically black college. The school's host city, Talladega, sits in a valley near the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Although Talladega is a quiet community, it hosts the world-famous Talladega Superspeedway, site of the Sprint Cup Series Races. If Talladega students wish to escape their studies, they can always visit the nearby cities of Montgomery, Birmingham, or Atlanta. At Talladega College, bachelor's degrees are awarded through four academic departments: the Division of Business and Administration, the Division of Humanities and Fine Arts, the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and the Division of Social Sciences and Education. Talladega boasts a very low student-to-faculty ratio, which can both facilitate learning and help students form strong bonds with professors.
