About ARKANSAS BAPTIST COLLEGE

Arkansas Baptist College, in Little Rock, Arkansas was originally known at the Minister's Institute. The school was founded by black and white Baptist leaders in 1884 as a Baptist-affiliated black college. Today, Arkansas Baptist College is a private, four-year, liberal arts college offering students associate and baccalaureate degrees in a number of areas. The college's three schools include Business and Applied Science and Technology; Social Science, Religion, and Christian Leadership; and Education and General Studies.

Incoming freshmen and new students at this historically black college appreciate the school's Literacy Writing Center, which helps freshmen--as well as upperclassmen, graduate students, and Little Rock residents--improve their reading and writing skills. All new students at Arkansas Baptist College also become part of the Scholars College, which supports completion of the general education core curriculum by offering advising, retention, and support services.
