Founded in 1873, the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff is the oldest historically black university in the nation, and the second oldest public university in the state of Arkansas. The "Flagship of the Delta" has since evolved into a higher education leader with distinctive programs in science and engineering. Mandated as an agricultural, mechanical, and teacher training university in 1927, the school has emerged as a national leader in aquaculture studies.
