California Black Colleges and Universities

From the star-studded excitement of Los Angeles to the seaside serenity of the Northern Coast to the relaxed cosmopolitan vibe of San Francisco, California has a lot to attract the black college student. In addition to an extensive and highly rated public university system, California's one historically black university, Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science in Los Angeles, offers excellent opportunities for students interested in health care professions.

The birthplace of Tiger Woods and the Williams sisters, California was also the site of legendary San Francisco mayor Willie Brown's political triumph. Today's black college students, of course, may be more interested to know that Barack Obama spent his first two undergraduate years studying in Los Angeles.
