About Fort Valley State University

Fort Valley State University is a historically black public college that was founded in 1890 as part of the Morrill Act land grants. It is located in Fort Valley, Georgia, on a 1,365 acre campus--the second largest for a public university in the state. Fort Valley, approximately 80 miles south of Atlanta, is near the center of the state's peach industry.

Fort Valley State University offers over 50 degree programs at the bachelor's and master's degree levels. Some of the best-known programs at the undergraduate level include agriculture, education, and business administration. Master's degree programs in education and counseling are also popular. The university is also known for its Cooperative Development Energy Program, which trains students in science and geology for future careers in the energy industry.
