Maryland Black Colleges and Universities

The birthplace of Frederick Douglass, Thurgood Marshall, and Harriet Tubman, Maryland is an excellent place for black college students to learn about African-American history. Baltimore, Maryland's largest city, enjoys a sizeable black majority and two public historically black colleges: Coppin State College and Morgan State University. The state offers two other public historically black colleges, Bowie State University in Bowie and the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore in Princess Anne.

Black college students in Maryland may find ample opportunities in health care, political science, finance, and business, while students in the Baltimore area may benefit from the region's status as a center of biotechnology and advanced health care.
