Coahoma Community College is a historically black college located in Clarksdale, Mississippi about 80 miles southwest of Memphis, Tennesse. Coahoma County Agricultural High School was established in 1924. In 1949, it became a junior college. In the ensuing years, the school became part of the Mississippi state university system (1950), opened its doors to students of all races (1965), and acquired its current name (1989).Students at Coahoma Community College can earn earn associate's degrees in the colleges of Liberal Arts, Mathematics and Science, and Business and Technology, and in the School of Nursing. The historically black college's Mississippi Delta Rural Health Care Training Partnership program receives funds from the U.S. Department of Labor. The program enables the college to train more nurses, tutor nursing students in math and science, and provide a summer nursing residency program.
