Hinds Community College is a public historically black college located in Raymond, Mississippi. Raymond is a very small town, but it is just five miles from the large city of Jackson. Hinds is the largest community college in the state, with branches in Jackson, Utica, Vicksburg, and Pearl. Hinds was originally established as an agricultural high school in 1917.Hinds Community College offers one and two-year degree programs in academic, technical, and career preparation subjects. The academic degree program lasts two years and grants an associate's degree, with credits that can be transferred to a senior college. The technical program offers one-year technical certificates and two-year technical associate's degrees in areas like agribusiness, telecommunications, and pharmacy. The career program grants one and two-year certificates for completing cosmetology, collision repair, automotive technology, and other programs. Hinds also offers a variety of online courses.
