North Carolina Black Colleges and Universities

From quaint college towns to bustling big cities, solitary beach strolls to rugged mountain hikes, quiet coffee shops to packed nightclubs--North Carolina has a lot to offer college students. Black history, art, and drama are showcased at Greensboro's African American Atelier Gallery and Salisbury's African American Heritage Trail. Charlotte, the state's largest city, is the country's second largest financial center and home to the NFL Panthers and the Afro-American Cultural Center.

North Carolina's black colleges are as varied as its towns and terrain. The outstanding University of North Carolina system's historically black colleges include: Elizabeth City State University, Fayetteville State University, North Carolina A&T State University, and Winston-Salem State University. Ranging in size and mission, the state's private black colleges include: Barber-Scotia College, Bennett College for Women, Johnson C.
