About BENNETT COLLEGE

Bennett College for Women, in Greensboro, North Carolina is a historically black college founded in 1873 in the basement of the Warnersville (NC) Methodist Episcopal Church. The college was first an elementary and secondary school, added college-level courses, and became a women's college in 1926. The school is now affiliated with the United Methodist Church.

Students at Bennett College for Women reap all the benefits of a women's school, yet have the opportunity to participate in a number of dual degree, joint degree, collaborative degree, and partnership programs with other North Carolina universities. Students can also study abroad. This historically black college offers degrees in 24 different areas of study. Bennett College for Women has unique programs that include Womanist Religious Studies, Global Studies, and Africana Women's Studies.
