About CLINTON JUNIOR COLLEGE

Clinton Junior College, a historically black college, is located in Rock Hill, South Carolina about 20 miles southwest of Charlotte, North Carolina. The Clinton Institute was founded in 1894 by the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Zion Church and named after Isom Caleb Clinton, South Carolina's presiding AME Zion bishop at the time. Clinton Institute was a boarding high school for emancipated black people and became Clinton Junior College in 1909. Today, the school is one of six colleges operating under the auspices of the AME Zion Church.

Clinton Junior College's goal is to provide a high-quality two-year liberal arts education and prepare students to complete a college major at a four-year institution. Students come to this historically black college from across the country to earn associate's degrees in business, liberal arts, or religious studies.
