Denmark Technical College is a historically black college in Denmark, South Carolina about 50 miles south of Columbia and 50 miles east of Augusta, Georgia. The school was founded in 1947 as the Denmark branch of the South Carolina Trade School System, whose mission was to educate black citizens. In 1979 the school was first accredited and assumed its current name.Denmark Technical College's goal is to help students prepare to enter the work force or succeed in earning a baccalaureate or graduate degree. Students at this historically black college can earn an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree in a number of different areas, as well as diplomas and technical certificates in specialized programs. Students can also choose to participate in numerous college sports, organizations, and activities.
