About South Carolina State University

South Carolina State University was founded in 1896 as South Carolina's first public historically black college. Since its inception, South Carolina State University has educated generations of ethnically diverse student groups studying subjects from English to accounting to political science. Besides traditional coursework, South Carolina State takes pride in offering several unique study paths, such as the bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering and the master's of science degree in transportation studies.
