One of the oldest historically black colleges west of the Mississippi, Wiley College maintains its tradition of providing broad access to higher education. The college offers open admissions and provides financial aid to most students. Affiliated with the United Methodist Church, Wiley College encourages both the intellectual and spiritual development of its students. Wiley College gained national distinction in the 2007 movie The Great Debaters, starring Denzel Washington and based on the school's championship-winning debate team.Wiley College offers degrees in three divisions, Arts and Sciences, General Education, and Business and Technology. In addition, this historically black college promotes the value of social responsibility through community welfare revitalization projects. Located in Marshall, West Texas, Wiley College continues to further its goal of educational access, developing a new generation of responsible global citizens and leaders.
